R.I.P. Reading Event 2012
Today is my birthday. Or was when I began this post. (Alas, I’m a slow writer.)
But I have a gift for you. R.I.P is here again! Hard to believe a year has gone by, but there it is. And autumn, the best time of the year, arrives.
And with autumn, comes R.I.P.
R.I.P (Readers Imbibing Peril) is the brainchild of Carl at Stainless Steel Droppings. It’s an opportunity for those of us who like things that go bump in the night to share our thoughts on books and movies at this most apropos time of year. For guidelines, click here.
This year, I will go for the max (and so should you!) I’m participating in the R.I.P. group read of The Graveyard Book, and I’m going to force…er, encourage some of my students to do the same. I’m also joining the group read of Afternoon of an Autocrat with the supernatural fiction readers group over at Goodreads.
What else? During this challenge period I plan to review The Winter Ghosts, Night Strangers, and Wieland.
I hope you will join me. In fact, please let me know. I’ll look for you!

Hi Pat,
Thanks for the good wishes. The spider gate is in Green Lake, a district of Seattle. I saw it when visiting my daughter and her husband last week.
I enjoyed your R.I.P. post on Laura Lippman. Looking forward to more fun in this, my favorite time of year!
Happy Birthday!
I really enjoy reading your reviews. Your writing is so fluid and so you.
Thank you, Kyung Ae! And thanks for reading.
So sorry I am late getting over here, thus late in wishing you a Happy Birthday!!!
Wonderful to not only have you back for RIP but that you are planning on joining us in reading The Graveyard Book. I’ve read it, or listened to it, several times and yet I am almost giddily excited about reading it again with a group.
Hope your birthday was wonderful and that those around you celebrated you!
Thanks, Carl. Yes, my birthday was lovely. We went to Seattle to visit our daughter and her husband. That’s where I found the wonderful spider gate.
I’ve only been to Seattle once, but I loved it. My kind of town. I could definitely see myself living there and enjoying it.
