Book Challenge by Erin 14.0
It’s time to announce my selections for Book Challenge by Erin 14.0!
Book Challenge by Erin 14.0 is a reading challenge [you guessed that, right?] that runs from January through April. For more information and to join in the fun, check out Erin’s Facebook page.
Here are the book categories and my selections:
Freebie, read any book of your choice
Book Woman of Troublesome Creek
I’d never heard of the blue people of Appalachia. Sounds like a fascinating read. Plus, I love Appalachian arts and crafts, and my mother and I went on a quilt/art tour of Appalachia some years ago. Also, you know, books.
Read a book you have been meaning to re-read
A Gentleman in Moscow
I love, love, love this book. Even though I only read it a few years ago, it’s on my you-can-only-take-three-books-to-a-desert-island list.
Read the first book of a series you have never read before
The Legacy
Read a book with a mostly green and/or pink colour cover art
The Perfect Secret
How clever am I? I managed to find a book with green and pink art.
Read a book with a male relationship word in the title, i.e. Father, Grandfather, Husband, Uncle, Brother, Son or Nephew.
Kill the Father
Read a book set in a place that’s on your bucket list of places to visit
Silence of the Grave
Iceland has been on my bucket list for a while, probably because at my house we’ve recently watched a boat load of Nordic Noir. The landscape seems at once forbidding and inviting. Definitely beautiful.
Read a book that reminds you of 2020
Death of a Rug Lord
Explanation: Because of covid, I’m not seeing friends and family, and I’m not commuting to work. All of this means I have more disposable time. I’ve been a quilter since 1976, and I’ve wanted to make a rug for about that long. Thanks to the lockdowns of 2020, I made a rug. Rug-making was so enjoyable, I started on two more and am even building a simple loom! Watch out, fingers!
Read a book written by an LGBTQIA+ author
The Mermaids Singing
Read a book with the name of a bird in the title, or the word bird/birds in the title
Mark of the Loon
Read a book in which the protagonist has a questionable profession or lifestyle
Exit
So, the questionable lifestyle in this case is that the protagonist is an exiteer. Never heard of it? Me neither. Turns out, an exiteer is someone who assists a person in an at-home suicide and then removes the evidence.
Overall, it appears I have quite a few choices in the suspense and mystery categories. Definitely escapist reading this time around. Let’s go forth and escape in reading!
What about you, readers? Have you joined any reading challenges lately? What do you think of my choices for Book Challenge by Erin 14.0?
