Book Challenge by Erin 11.0
So, it’s been a looooong time since I last posted. Sorry, Guys! (That is if you were waiting with baited breath.) How do you bait breath, anyhow? I’m guessing not with worms.
I have been writing (working on my novel), just not posting. I’m also halfway finished with a book review of The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander. It’s such a heavy book that I’ve felt a bit intimidated writing about it. So watch for that review in the not-too-distant future. Also, WordPress changed all the functions, so not-very-techie I have had mega trouble figuring out how to work this new format. (I’m not there yet.)
In the meantime, it’s time to talk about Book Challenge by Erin 11.0. Yay!
As I write this, it’s July 1, the first day of the challenge. Here are the categories and my choices for each.
• 5 points: Freebie – Read a book that is at least 200 pages
• 10 points: Read a book that starts with “F”
I’m a little worried about Freshwater. The writing is described as quite experimental. It may be over my head!
• 10 points: Read a book with one of the following words in the title: rain(s), thunder, lightning, or monsoon
• 15 points: Read a book with a picture of a building (i.e. a house, a castle, a school, a hospital, etc.) on the cover
Love Over Scotland/McCall Smith
• 20 points: Read a book by an author who uses an initial in his/her name
I really enjoyed her other book The Art Forger, so I have high hopes for this novel. Plus daughter Manda picked this one for me.
• 20 points: Read a book with an article of clothing or accessory in the title
Blue Shoes and Happiness/McCall Smith
• 25 points: (in honour of our co-admin) – Read a book set in India
• 30 points: Read a book that has won or been short-listed for the Booker Prize
• 30 points: Read a book about a human with superpowers or supernatural powers
I’m definitely not into vampires or zombies, so I searched for a mystery with a psychic.
• 35 points: (selected by Lorraine J.) – Read a book that has the same title as another book in a different genre
Educated/Westover (memoir); other book Educated/Gardner (novel)
My mother, brother, and daughter Manda have all read this. We’re going to have a family book discussion soon. Our first family book club!
There you have it–my choices for Book Challenge by Erin 11.0. Have you read any of these books? If so, do tell! Anyone doing a reading challenge?
